STRONG FRAGILITY

The Viva La Vulva suit

The suit always embodied power, the power which is originally only worn and owned by men.

So as soon as the female revolt of the suffragette rose for equal rights, it was seen in clothing too. The suffragette suit was born in 1910, for the women that needed more freedom, due to an active and turbulent continuing fight for her rights.

Feminity was always seen as a  weakness, therefore women had to dress up in masculine garments to be taken seriously.

Today  women  are  closer  to  equality, but only when they fit into a masculine world, leaving female characteristics behind, because society still sees them as weak or inapropriate.

But i believe, that women should not have to dress or act like men to be seen empowered. Cherishing feminity is not a sign of weakness, much more it is a strong embracement and pride of being a woman, respecting and thanking the women who fought for todays freedom while showing the real strength of fragility.

This collection “strong fragility” portrays the interplay of the masculin-dominated world and the actual female strength, the strength to suffer through and overcome inequality, violence, discrimination and rape.this conflict is embodied by a metaphor of strong masculine suit cuts paired with the fragile strength of flowers and other objects, which each symbolizes characteristics of female sexuality. “strong fragility” should show the the female strength, which is mistaken as weakness.
